Title: Group Art Project - Sharing and Taking Turns

Objective: To promote social development, sharing, and taking turns among children through a collaborative art project.

       - Paints (various colours)

       - Paintbrushes

       - Markers

       - Glue

       - Scissors

       - Magazines or newspapers (optional)

       - Stickers or decorative materials (optional)

Instructions:

       1. Introduction (5 minutes):

               - Gather the children in a circle and explain the purpose of the activity: to create a collaborative art project that promotes sharing and taking turns.

               - Emphasize the importance of working together, respecting each other's ideas, and practicing patience.

       2. Setting the Ground Rules (5 minutes):

              - Establish a set of ground rules together with the children.                      Examples may include:

                            - One person works on the art project at a time.

                            - Listen attentively to others' ideas.

                            - Respect each other's contributions.

                            - Encourage everyone's participation.

       3. Brainstorming and Planning (10 minutes):

              - Encourage the children to share their ideas on what the art project could be.

              - Write down their ideas on a whiteboard or flip chart.

              - Discuss how they can incorporate everyone's ideas into the project.

              - Decide on a theme or concept that represents the group's collective vision.

       4. Collaborative Art Creation (30-45 minutes):

              - Place the large poster board or canvas in a central location where all children can access it.

              - Divide the surface into sections using light pencil marks or tape, creating individual spaces for each child to work on.

              - Assign each child a section and provide them with the necessary art supplies.

              - Instruct the children to create artwork that contributes to the overall theme or concept.

              - Encourage them to share their ideas, collaborate, and take turns working on different sections of the project.

              - Remind them to respect each other's contributions and be patient while waiting for their turn.

       5. Sharing and Reflection (10 minutes):

              - Once the artwork is complete, gather the children together to share and reflect on the collaborative art project.

              - Allow each child to explain their contribution and how it relates to the overall theme or concept.

              - Facilitate a discussion on the importance of sharing, taking turns, and working together as a team.

              - Emphasize the value of each child's contribution and the beauty that emerges from collaboration.

       6. Display and Celebration (ongoing):

              - Find a prominent place to display the collaborative art project, such as a classroom wall or a community centre.

              - Invite others to view the artwork and discuss the messages and themes represented.

              - Celebrate the children's efforts by organizing a small exhibition or sharing the project with parents and the wider community.

Remember, the key is to foster a positive and inclusive environment throughout the activity. Encourage open dialogue, active listening, and appreciation for each child's contribution. This collaborative art project will not only promote social development but also inspire a sense of unity and teamwork among the children. Enjoy the process and the beautiful artwork that emerges from it!
