Animal Walks

Animal walks are a fun and engaging way to develop gross motor skills in children. Here's an activity guide for animal walks:

1. Bear Walk:

Start on all fours with your hands and feet on the ground. Walk forward, keeping your back straight and your knees slightly bent. Move your opposite hand and foot together, just like a bear!

2. Crab Walk:

Sit on the ground with your feet flat and your hands behind you, fingers pointing towards your feet. Lift your hips off the ground and start walking sideways, using your hands and feet to move. This walk is great for strengthening the upper body.

3. Frog Jump:

Squat down with your feet shoulder-width apart and your hands touching the ground in front of you. Jump forward as far as you can, landing in a squat position. Repeat the jump, trying to cover more distance each time.

4. Duck Walk:

Squat down with your feet shoulder-width apart and your hands on your hips. Walk forward, staying in the squat position. Try to waddle like a duck, keeping your back straight and your knees bent.

5. Snake Slither:

Lie on your stomach with your arms extended in front of you. Lift your head and shoulders off the ground and start moving forward by pushing off with your hands. Wiggle your body from side to side, imitating the movement of a snake.

6. Penguin Waddle:

Stand with your feet together and your hands by your sides. Take small steps forward, keeping your feet close together and your body upright. Swing your arms slightly as you walk, just like a penguin!

Remember to create a safe environment for these activities, with enough space for children to move around freely. Encourage them to imitate the movements of each animal and have fun while developing their gross motor skills. Enjoy!
