Positive Playlist

Here's a children's activity guide for emotional development focusing on gratitude and positive thinking through creating a positive playlist:

Activity: Positive Playlist

Materials needed:

       - Access to music streaming platforms or a collection of songs

       - Pen or pencil

       - Paper or index cards

Instructions:

       1. Begin by explaining to the child what a positive playlist is - a collection of songs that uplift our mood, inspire positive thinking, and promote gratitude.

       2. Discuss the power of music in influencing our emotions and how it can be a tool for cultivating positivity.

       3. Provide the child with a pen or pencil and paper or index cards.

       4. Together, brainstorm a list of songs that the child finds uplifting, inspiring, or that remind them of positive experiences. Encourage them to think about songs with positive lyrics, catchy melodies, or tunes that make them feel happy.

       5. Write down the song titles and artists on the paper or index cards.

       6. If you have access to music streaming platforms, create a playlist with the selected songs. If not, you can create a physical playlist by writing down the song titles and artists on separate pieces of paper or index cards.

       7. Encourage the child to listen to their positive playlist whenever they need a boost of positivity or want to cultivate a grateful mindset. They can listen to it during quiet time, while doing chores, or whenever they feel like it.

       8. Discuss the impact of the positive playlist on the child's mood and mindset. Ask them how the songs make them feel and if they notice any changes in their thoughts or emotions.

       9. Encourage the child to add new songs to their positive playlist over time. They can discover new uplifting songs or include songs that hold special meaning for them.

      10. Celebrate the child's positive playlist by having a dance party or singing along to their favourite songs.

Remember, the purpose of this activity is to promote emotional development, gratitude, and positive thinking through the power of music. Encourage the child to explore different genres and artists to find songs that resonate with them. Enjoy the uplifting and positive vibes of the playlist together!
