Here's a children's activity guide for emotional development focusing on gratitude and positive thinking through a gratitude walk:

Activity: Gratitude Walk

Materials needed:

       · Comfortable walking shoes

       · Outdoor space (such as a park, garden, or neighbourhood)

Instructions:

       1. Begin by explaining to the child what a gratitude walk is - a mindful walk where we focus on appreciating the beauty and positive aspects of our surroundings.

       2. Discuss the importance of being present in the moment and noticing the things that bring us joy and gratitude.

       3. Put on comfortable walking shoes and head to an outdoor space together, such as a park, garden, or neighbourhood.

       4. Encourage the child to take slow, deliberate steps and be aware of their surroundings.

       5. As you walk, prompt the child to notice and point out things they are grateful for. These can include the beauty of nature, the sound of birds chirping, the warmth of the sun, or the colours of flowers.

       6. Encourage the child to use their senses to fully experience their surroundings. For example, they can listen to the sounds of nature, feel the texture of leaves or flowers, or smell the scents in the air.

       7. Remind the child to express their gratitude out loud or silently in their mind as they encounter things that bring them joy or appreciation. They can say "thank you" or simply think about why they are grateful for what they are experiencing.

       8. Encourage the child to take their time during the walk, allowing themselves to fully immerse in the present moment and appreciate the positive aspects around them.

       9. After the walk, find a comfortable spot to sit and reflect on the gratitude walk together. Ask the child to share their favourite moments or things they were grateful for during the walk.

     10. Discuss how the gratitude walk made them feel and how it helped them focus on the positive aspects of their surroundings.

     11. Encourage the child to incorporate gratitude walks into their routine, whether it's a daily practice or a special activity they can do whenever they need a boost of positivity.

Remember, the purpose of this activity is to promote emotional development, gratitude, and positive thinking through mindful appreciation of the environment. Encourage the child to continue noticing and expressing gratitude for the beauty and positive aspects of their surroundings beyond the gratitude walk. Enjoy the journey of gratitude together!
